Discipline the mind, flow through life.

But how — and where to begin.

First, desire. Second, self-awareness.

Desire

The place to begin is the desire to see and experience life differently than you have been. A calm recognition and inner-knowing that we are more than we have realized our self and existence to be up to this moment. Once this urge to know, feel, see, and experience more awakens within, we now have a choice. To explore the unknown — or, stay comfortable and keep moving through this life on automatic, letting our past experiences chauffeur us around on default. That choice is ours alone. There is no right, no wrong answer. Just a point along the way where we make a conscious choice.

Self-Awareness

To become self-aware is to begin to self-observe how we think, feel, and act in our experience — to insert a pause and slight distance between that which we believe ourselves to be and who we truly are. In this present moment, we are whole and complete.

To begin to witness our thoughts, conversations, exchanges with the world from a neutral stance and operate from a higher state of being is to begin the process of self-awareness. We ultimately begin to ask ourselves important questions, “Am I co-creating my life? Or am I floating through this lifetime on auto-pilot in a series of pre-recorded reactions to external and internal circumstances? Why did I respond the way I did? Why did I think that? Is it possible to get ahead of my thoughts?

Self-awareness or self-observation is when we can create space between our subconscious thoughts/feelings/emotions/reactions about an experience and step outside of that space to one of neutrality in which we can truly see an experience for what it is. When you do this, you create space to reframe circumstances, look at life’s moments as lessons rather than taking the “why me” bait.

It’s so simple, yet it comes with the challenge of creating the habit to remember to be aware. That is it.

I call it ‘finding peace in the pause’. Taking just three seconds to pause, create awareness & open up our perspective in any situation, has the potential to drastically affect the outcome of our lives.

Helpful Hints

Where the magic happens. Once we become self-aware, we move into a place of conscious co-creation. We recognize we have the power within to stay awake during our day and co-create our life. Life is not happening to us, it is happening for us.

xoxo,

Anne
